A Note To My Patients

Dear Patient

Thank you for visiting my website.

If you are an existing patient of mine, I hope the information on this website will be helpful in maintaining your dental health. I know that for a dentist, I talk a lot, and much of the information and knowledge which I attempt to impart toward you during your consultation with me may not have been completely retained. As a refresher for you, I have provided my verbal advice on preventative dentistry under the Preservation tab. Please remember that achieving an excellent outcome in dentistry is always a result of good teamwork - between you and me. As optimal as my skill and choice of materials may be in your operative treatment, nothing can last forever. However, pristine home care and proper lifestyle choices will push the lifespan of your dental treatment further.

If you are a new patient who has been referred to see me, please inform me of your referrer so I can give them thanks. I am quite fond of personal referrals as they are the best compliment of my work and gives so much more meaning to what I do. I am a general dentist with special interests and expertise in cosmetic and implant dentistry. I find that caring for each of you, my patients, a truly rewarding experience and a privilege for me. Excellent clinical outcomes, I believe, begins long before any dental procedure occurs. It starts with a frank and honest discussion between us so that I may most accurately elicit your personal concerns, be it of aesthetic, discomfort or dysfunction in nature. In turn, and following a thorough examination and assessment of your general health, oral soft tissues, teeth, gums, bite relationship, jaw joints and facial musculature, I will be able to accurately recommend an array of personalized treatment options for you. With regards to the planning of your treatment, particularly in implant dentistry, there is oftentimes no definite right or wrong but a spectrum of options which I will tailor to your individual needs, expectations, biological limitation, risk, and financial scenario.

Aside from dentistry, I have a few 'second loves' in life (as my wife would call it).

Tennis has been my favourite sport since I was a little boy. I still love playing and watching tennis, especially when Roger Federer is on court. The elegant and re-inventive nature of his game are the qualities I admire. Although I am way past my prime these days, I still manage a few decent winners at a weekly men's competition in Sydney.

Fine art is another one of my side passions. My love of art was ignited when I began attending secondary school at Sydney Grammar. It was inspired by my teachers and by the work of some of the senior HSC students at the time when I was in year 7. Drawing and oil painting have been my preferred mediums. I find it a relaxing and almost meditative pastime where I can set aside a few hours to sketch, mix together different shades of paint, and refine the colours on my paintings. It's where I can use simple techniques and build each of them toward something much more complex. Until recently, I have been attending portraiture and drawing classes at the Julian Ashton Art School.

Motorsport is also something I'm interested in, especially Formula 1. It's a sport where in order to win, you need precision, innovation and continual improvement. I have ventured onto racetracks in the past, both in Australia and in Germany, and loved the feeling of worrying about nothing else in the world, except for the next corner. Performing surgery is probably the only other activity where we need to do things that require our utmost focus and undivided attention, where the only person that matters is my patient.
